How to manage painful tattoo sessions

Writer: Rhea CoombsRhea Coombs

I get asked this question quite a lot. I actually got to put this into practice the other day, but slow focused breathing from the stomach, like a meditative breathing, I find helps to relax you.

When you tense up, you increase the discomfort your feeling. Also focusing on the discomfort can help, I find it can give you a sense of being able to have control over any pain you might feel as opposed to it feeling the other way round. You get to know your time limits as well, don't force yourself beyond your capabilities, it's not supposed to be so traumatic that you don't want to go back (unless that's your thing of course) I used to be able to sit for hours, but I seem to be able to manage around 4-5'hrs depending on what I'm having done.

I hope this helps a little,

Angel
